Input

A public web form submission fires a webhook whenever a candidate applies.

Processing

An AI agent reads the resume and application, screens it against the role's requirements, and produces a qualification score.

Output

The result is logged to the database, qualified candidates are flagged in Slack for the hiring team, and the candidate receives an automated email response.

Engineering Details

Error handling: malformed or incomplete submissions are rejected with a structured response instead of failing the workflow silently.
Retries: transient failures on the Slack/Gmail calls retry with backoff before falling to a dead-letter log.
Idempotency: duplicate form submissions are detected before creating a second candidate record.
Validation: required fields (resume, role, contact info) are checked before the AI screening step runs.
Branching logic: routing to the hiring team, database, and candidate email all fan out from a single screening result.
API integrations: OpenAI, Slack, and Gmail are called through typed clients with request/response logging.
Observability: every application's screening result and routing outcome is logged for later review.
